Still Crippin'

I'm very sad to announce that Stanley "Tookie" Williams was executed December 13, 2005 on deathrow. It is quite unfortunate that we had lost such an important member of our society. For those who do not know who he was, he was the co-founder of the notorious gang called the Crips. Governor Schwarzenegger denied clemency to convicted the murderer. There had been many commitees and protesters supporting the cause. One of the most important was The Sesame Street "Save Tookie For Cookie Foundation". While the Cookie Monster was unsuccessful going about this operation, it still arose awareness of William's importance.
My personal thoughts are that he could have changed a lot of lives. The youth could have been enducated by his gang life. I mean he did write books about gangs for children which had won several Nobel peace prizes. He had proven a change and should of been given that opportunity to help others. It would not necessarily mean that he would be freed. Think about it....a youngster that is involved with the crips...who would he listen to... a police officer or the co-founder of the crips? Ofcourse the man who started the crips...the man who they respect and look up to. Anyway, i could talk on and on about my opinions. The man is gone, so let's leave it at that. Pour out a little liqour or...umm yeah, whatever you homies do.
R.I.P. Stanley "Tookie" Williams.

I almost thot you really cared about "tookie" after reading this blog but then i saw the pic of "cookie" and now im starting to wonder....
I really do...it's an emotional moment for me. I chose not to discuss this any further...
Cookie monster rules, especially when he's trying to satisfy his addiction in that episode.
I don't think any amount of childrens books can change lives for the better. Think of all the lives he fucked up and made shitty by killing their family members. It's madness I say.
But oh well, better not read my weblog entry on this opinion. Turn your head, let's go get drunk this weekend.
you have a point michael...you can talk about the good he has done but if he compared it to the bad he has done then it weighs out more for the bad stuff. You can't take 4 lives, start a notorious gang and then say you're sorry. It doesn't work like that unless you're white. That's the only way the legal system will allow clemecy.
I assume my example is giving you ideas. You probably want to start a notorious gang and take 4 lives also...once again, you can potientially get away with it being white.
I do see your point a bit actually, but the facts still remain the same in my opinion. And the fact that he made no effort to do anything to help the families of those he murdered says a lot to me about his supposed 'reform'. I once had a someone ask me where I thought Jesus was. I told them that it was blindingly apparent to me where he lives, in prison, because thats where everyone seems to find him. A joke, maybe a bad one, but it has a great point. To top it all off when he was asked by media if he would renouce his association to the Crips if he was ever released into society, his reply was a pretty straightforward no.
Oh and I am white and I cant stand in a public place with more then 1 of my friends without being accosted about lookin suspicious, so the whole gang and murderous rampage thing is totally out.
This is all a sarcastic post Joy. Glad you can be part of it:)
But you're right, he could of doubled his chance of being released if he had helped the families. I dont really have any religion. Michael teaches me everything i know and believe until this day...his web log is a bible to me...
It only makes sence because he is actually my elder. I assume he would be wisor so i chose to follow him.
